Grebes at Magnuson Park
July 28, 2017
In June and July we walked in the wetlands at Magnuson Park and watched a mother pied-bill grebe incubating her eggs for what seemed like weeks in the middle of the pond just west of the Lake. One of the best things we observed was the father fishing and bringing his catch back to the nest. It was wonderful watching this young grebe attempt to swallow a fish!
I am planning a sequence of sketches to celebrate the experience. With wildlife I often photograph and then later interpret them in my journals.
